Check back in a few weeks for detailed
schedule information!
2008 Featured Entertainers
Les Gilliam is returning as one
of our most requested acts and he'll
 be
our Thursday Night Opry featured
entertainer . If you haven't
caught a performance by Les, guaranteed
you'll be a fan after meeting this true
gentlemen and great entertainer.
He's a country music historian and
included with his knowledge is a great
voice and songwriting style that we know
you'll enjoy. We're even
more excited to announce that he'll be
with us on Friday and he'll also join
the Green River Band for Friday Night's
Danciest Dance Of The West. He has
been a featured act at Silver Dollar
City's popular Barn Dance for going on
his 12th consecutive year and all his
fans are invited to join us for this
bigger and better than ever Danciest
Dance of The West featuring Les Gilliam
with the Green River Band and the usual
host of other great dance bands.
Call Of The West is a terrific
act that we're really excited to be
welcoming to Wahoo for the first time.
Many of you have met them over the years
at various
festivals and shows. They have
worked with festival favorites, Tex &
Mary Schutz, for many years as well as
Les Gilliam and a host of other great
entertainers. You may have also
seen them on the popular RFD-TV show,
Midwest Country Theatre. Jerome
Campbell and Jeannie Cahill , known as
Call of the West, are amazingly talented
and we know you'll enjoy their
multi-instrument and fantastic vocal
skills. Make sure you give them a
proper Wahoo welcome for their much
anticipated first appearance at the
show.
The O'Roark Brothers from the
Kansas City area are another group
appearing for the first time in 2008.
This laugh-out-loud brother duo is sure
to tickle your funny
bone and mesmerize you with their
musical talent all at the same time.
Anyone who's ever seen their performance
has
been captivated by them and we're so
fortunate to have them with us this
year. Mike and Mitch have
performed in Las Vegas for many years as
well as working with such legends as
Conway Twitty, Bill Monroe, Earl
Scruggs, Lester Flatt, Red Skelton, Oak
Ridge Boys, Jerry Reed, Tom T. Hall,
Billy Crash Craddock, Kenny Price, Del
Reeves, Don Williams, Bill Monroe,
Johnny Paycheck, The Kendalls, Leroy Van
Dyke, Bill Haley's Comets, Ricky Skaggs,
Kenny Rogers, Keith Whitley and Alabama,
just to name a few. You don't want
to miss their shows on Saturday and
Sunday.
Milton Wooldridge is a terrific
songwriter and singer and is coming all
the way from Athens, Alabama to join
us this year. Not only does Milton
have a rich, deep, emotional voice, but
his songwriting is so sincere and
creative we know you'll enjoy getting to
know our good friend from the South.
He's got some great recordings available
and he's been in the business for a long
time. He's a member of The
National Traditional Country Music Hall
of Fame and we want to make sure you
show him a great time at this year's
Wahoo Country Music Show.
The Great White Possum String Company
will join us again for their second
year. They come from the Kansas
City area and have been playing their
style of bluegrass together for over 30
years . Lead by Don Hupp,
who is a great singer and entertainer,
this is sure to be one of your favorite
acts at this year's show. The rest
of the band, Gary Gray on Banjo, Mike
Weaver on Mandolin , Mark Pursell
on Flat-top and Bill Norton on Bass are
a great bunch of guys that love
entertaining and are serious about their
bluegrass. You might watch out for
a little practical joking from this
group as you just never know what kind
of crazy ideas they may come up with
next. Don't miss their
performances all weekend.
Lorene Clark and Laurentian Divide
are returning to our festival this year,
and boy are we looking forward to having
them with us again! Lorene must
know a million
tunes from the traditional bluegrass and
old time country genre. When you
add her multi-talented band, Laurentian
Divide, to the show, you've found a
group of terrific people, great
entertainers and friends. We're
really looking forward to seeing their
return, Lorene Clark with Pam Kolupailo
on Rhythm, Noel Holloway on Bass
and Curt King, Dobro Master and terrific
entertainer! Don't miss
the several shows they'll be performing
all weekend!
Fiddlin' Jake Simpson will be
with us all weekend th is
year. Everyone's a fan of Fiddlin' Jake.
This amazingly talented young man, only
15 years old, has a gift for
entertaining and he's an experienced pro
having been doing it for several years
already. Jake will have several of
his own performances during the show and
I'm sure you'll find him sitting in with
his extended musical family and friends
every chance he gets.
Other first time entertainers we're
excited to have with us this year
include, Vern Bishop of Minnesota,
Kenny Meyer of Minnesota, Don DeCamp of
Iowa, and many more being added
daily.
